Theme and sub-themes


We are therefore inviting national and international contributions on the general theme of non-traditional students in HE. We would appreciate especially empirical-based papers, but we are also opened to review papers that can dedicate to explore important concepts and constructs theoretically. Authors can address one or more of the following sub-themes:


1. Critical perspectives on access to higher education;


2. Critical perspectives on the mainstream concepts of dropout and success of non traditional students;


3. Critical perspectives on the factors that cause dropout and success;


4. Non-traditional student's biographies, perceptions, and experiences: how to they navigate in higher education?


5. Non-traditional students transitions to higher education;


6. Non-traditional students transitions from education to work;


7. Learning environments of non-traditional students;


8. Learning careers and non-traditional students in higher education;


9. Non-traditional student's identities: dynamic shifts in higher education?


10. The institutional role: how can we make HEI friendlier to non-traditional students?


11. Non-traditional students between structure and agency: a permanent tension?
